Take Me Home has several animal kindness education programs.

Let’s Fix It and our S.A.V.E. (Spay, Advocate, Vaccinate, Educate) Program. Our programs center on humane education classes that not only help children learn about compassion to animals, but also through working with shelter animals. Many families living in the low-income areas of Los Angeles cannot afford medical care, basic vaccinations, or spay/neuter surgeries for their companion animals. Sadly, these animals continue to reproduce and end up dead, on the streets, or euthanized in the shelters. We believe strongly that the way to change these tragic patterns is to reach the children.

Take Me Home and Lifeline4Paws provides spay and neuter services for the City of Colton. Colton had one of the highest shelter impounds in California. They worked with Take Me Home and Lifeline4Paws to implement mandatory spay and neuter.

Our Let’s Fix It program helps to fund thousands of surgeries, vaccinations and microships to the community.

S.A.V.E Program

Our initial six week program started on May 5, 2012. As part of this special program, the children worked with certified dog trainers to understand canine behavior and learn about being humane to animals. In addition, we brought orphaned dogs and cats to the facility allowing the children to handle, bathe and learn how to maintain long-lasting relationships with the animals.

Our Let’s Fix It program helps to fund thousands of surgeries, vaccinations and microships to the community.

Six Week Summer Program

While many other humane education programs end after the classroom, S.A.V.E. takes its learning opportunities beyond the classroom. This second phase to the program, we call Graduation, consists of bringing in a professional spay and neuter van and veterinarian to sterilize, vaccinate, microchip and administer medical care (including medications) for their animals at home. We believe it is important to not only teach compassion, but to also allow the children to experience compassion in action. Many of these families have unsterilized, sick and/or injured animals at home and more often than not, most of these animals have an easily treatable condition. Many of these families do not have the funds or resources to help them care for their animals resulting in needless suffering or more shelter impounds, and so S.A.V.E. brings these services to them.

Our rescues recently did several programs with the Venice Club and we really enjoyed our experience. We are excited to be able to help more families, and we look forward to hopefully working with you.

Take Me Home funded Dogstar, a mobile veterinary hospital to provide free spay and neuter, vaccinations, and medical services in Sri Lanka.

We chose small fishing village just outside Negombo.

The community is low income and they don’t have the finances or transport to go to private vets in the capital. The area was recently very badly damaged by the monsoon floods. Many families had to leave their homes for over a week and the local church, which is on higher ground, looked after many of the dogs and cats. It’s a really nice little community and it’s a real pleasure to be able to help their animals and break the cycle of over population

City of Colton

Danny Wimmer and the Take Me Home Group,

Councilmember David Toro and the residents of the City of Colton want to give big hugs and a special thank you to Danny Wimmer and the Group “Take Me Home,” who have been rescuing animals in the Los Angeles area since 2001. In Partnership with the David Toro Foundation and Life Line 4 Paws, Take Me Home has been allowing the residents of Colton, who otherwise could not afford, get their pets Spayed/Neutered and microchipped.

Take Me Home began offering funding to the residents of Colton, and to date have helped fund for 354 Spay and Neuters and 254 Microchips. With the ability for residents of Colton to Spay/Neuter and microchip their pets, the over population of Cats and Dogs winding up loose on the streets and dying in the shelter have decreased substantially.

Councilmember David Toro and the residents of Colton cannot express enough how grateful we are that there are organizations like Take Me Home, willing to help families who want to love and care for another living being, giving it the best love and care they can provide.

Your Donations In Action!

Take Me Home funds mobile veterinary hospitals to travel into these under-served areas to provide free spay and neuter, vaccinations, micro-ch ipping and administer medical care for animals in desperate need. The City of Highgrove in Riverside County.  We chose Highgrove as it has one of the highest impounds of dogs and cats into the Riverside shelter.  Our service is free to the community and is truly life-saving for this area.  We will keep providing our services until every animal in Highgrove receives the help that they deserve.
